THE IFM GRADUATION CEREMONY
With Pierre Bergé, the IFM's President and Jean-Bernard Devernois, President of the Conseil des Affaires Académiques
July 1st 2010

The classes of 2008 and 2009 in the management and design postgraduate programs graduated on July 1st in the presence of Pierre Bergé, the IFM's President, Jean-Bernard Devernois, President of the Conseil des Affaires Académiques, Dominique Jacomet (the IFM's Director), Sylvie Ebel (Assistant Director), the teaching staff of the IFM as well as the graduates' friends and families.

In his speech, Pierre Bergé highlighted the fact that when setting up the IFM 24 years ago in 1986, his aim was to "help fashion to face the 21st century without being weighed down by the past". He added that the IFM was there to "fight gratuity" : "fashion, is first of all intended to dress a woman, man or even a child"."Fashion is not about dreams" he added, insisting that fashion has too often been "used to satisfy the desires of designers who have forgotten about the world and society around them ". "Beware of those who want to create tomorrow's fashion and of those who rely too heavily on the past: fashion happens now".
