The goal of the Program is to provide opportunities for managers of the fashion and luxury sectors to develop the knowledge, international perspective and managerial skills required to enhance their company’s competitiveness, innovative capabilities and brand reputation. This is based on an integrated view of the successful business models in the industry, forces shaping competition, technological and sociological changes, and opportunities of international collaboration.
In order to reach these objectives, the curriculum follows a logical structure:
The Program begins with an overview of global strategy for participants to understand how fashion and luxury companies determine their overall business plan in the face of international competition.
This is followed by a closer look at brands, focusing on how companies put in place a brand management strategy, a communication strategy that is coherent with the brand's positioning, and a retail strategy that ensures the client encounters the brand in a consistent way.
Participants will then focus on the evolutions in consumer behaviour and expectations, and how companies are changing their product and distribution models to keep up with the consumer.
This is completed by a look at the value chain and the evolving business models in the industry.
Finally, to give a broader context to these modules, participants will look at the culture and history of fashion, in order to understand how trends are inspired and how fashion and luxury are rooted in this broader culture.
The optional "Paris Experience" seminar is representative of the overall objectives of the program: it provides participants an exceptional chance to develop a network of contacts by meeting key players in the French fashion and luxury industry, and the opportunity to hear and see best practices that can be adapted and applied in the participants' own businesses.
Through close interaction with an international faculty composed of senior academic and professional lecturers from both France and China, participants gain insight into fashion and luxury management issues and an in-depth understanding of tradition and modernity, theory and professional practice.
The program is intended for corporate leaders, senior executive managers, senior heads of functional departments, high potential young managers, government representatives and experts working in the fashion, luxury, design-based industries and operating in China and international markets.
The program is designed as an integrated six-step sequence of learning experiences providing the opportunity for executives to increase their knowledge, to develop their skills and contacts, to anticipate change in the industry and to successfully enhance the competitiveness of their company.
Teaching methods include lectures, cases and group work. The program leaves ample time for the exchange of experience between participants of different nationalities, educational backgrounds and professional experience.
The program is bi-lingual, program taught in English with Chinese translation. Course material is provided in both languages.
Attendance is compulsory for all modules in China.
Participants who successfully complete the six modules are awarded an International Certificate jointly delivered by the School of Economics & Management of Tsinghua University, the INSTITUT FRANÇAIS DE LA MODE, and HEC PARIS.
