THE PART TIME PROGRAM

  Conditions for admission
In order to apply for the IFM's DESIGN PROGRAM the candidate must have a BA BA (Bachelor of Arts) of a minimum of 4 years (or the equivalent according to international standards) from an art, fashion or style school.
Exceptions are possible for high level creative projects reinforced by extensive professional experience.
Fluent English is required.

Admissions process
The admissions process is in 3 parts:

1- Eligibility on the basis of the application
The application enables the candidate to present their creative universe, their previous achievements and designs, their professional objectives and motivation. Eligibility is decided on careful examination of the application by an IFM internal selection committee.

2- Preparing and sending elements for application for the admissions jury
The following elements must be sent to the IFM by the candidate for examination by the admissions jury:
- a design (garment) according to a theme given by the IFM
- a recent portfolio
- a 10 to 15 minute (max) video cassette introducing the candidate to the jury without having to be present.
This video should be in three parts: a presentation of the candidate's projects and personal work , an exposé of the concept behind his or her set project and finally a spontaneous answer to a question in a sealed envelope to be opened on camera.

3- Presentation of complete application to the jury without the candidate
A number of recruitment sessions are organized at the IFM between May and October each year. They bring together members of the IFM's teaching staff and professionals who examine all of the elements that make up the application (video, portfolio, set project…). The application is examined together and is followed by a telephone conversation with the candidate to enable the jury to make a final decision. In certain cases, a complementary piece of personal work may be required to clarify certain aspects of the application.
