Mode de recherche, which was set up in 2004 under Olivier Assouly, is a semestrial and multidisciplinary Research Review about fashion, luxury, design, the immaterial, brands, craftsmanship…

One of IFM's missions is academic research in an area that seems to be at odds with the very idea of research. Indeed, this type of industry appears to contradict all efforts at reflection, as the irrational aspects of fashion are so powerful. However, reflection on fashion and luxury began at the dawn of Western philosophy in Athens and continued through the Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution and throughout the 20th century with a postmodern approach notably. Thinking fashion today is multidisciplinary and blends different social sciences (sociology, history, economics and management).
