Annie Cohen-Solal, lecturer at the Université de Caen, author of Azzedine Alaïa au XXIe siècle (editions BAI, 2011), goes back over the career of the great designer to whom the musée Galliera is dedicating an exhibition until January 26th 2014.
An exploration of the work of a "passer" whose design is marked by a blend of disciplines, the intermingling of cultures and freedom: Azzedine Alaïa works outside institutions and rituals, he doesn’t show during fashion week… He is secret, silent and mysterious, Azzedine Alaïa is to fashion what "Patrick Modiano is to literature". One of the rare fashion designers about whom one can say that he will leave a “body of work” (Olivier Saillard, Director of the Palais Galliera).
