Fashion and Luxury Management

France is recognized on the international fashion and luxury scene as a place of tradition and innovation. The Fashion and Luxury Management Summer program will allow students to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and specific features of an economic sector that is undergoing constant change, and to discover the unique French « savoir- faire », from behind the scenes.

  • To gain insights about the culture and economics of fashion and luxury
  • To apprehend luxury "à la française"
  • To comprehend the specific features of branding and merchandising in fashion and luxury
  • To analyze iconic brands and their creation, communication and international development strategies
  • To discover the different career options and job lines in the luxury goods sector

  • Particularities of merchandising in Luxury
  • Fashion and jewellery
  • Build a career in Luxury : professions and functions

This program alternates between knowledge input, workshops and field trips in Paris. You will be given the opportunity to visit exceptional places and meet players of major luxury brands.

Visits: Baccarat Museum, Galliera Museum, Broderies Lesage, Maison Margiela, Design Studios, Showrooms and Concept Stores...

Guided exhibitions: Yves Saint Laurent 1971 at YSL Foundation, Lanvin at Galliera Museum, Jean-Paul Gaultier at Grand Palais...

Guest Speakers: Christine Phung (designer), Mathieu de Menonville (CEO of Melinda Gloss)...

Academic credits:

Students who successfully complete all the assignments of the course (attendance and final exam) will receive a transcript for 5 ECTS credits. Students are invited to check with their home university whether the credits earned at IFM are eligible.

Requirements:

This program is open to university-level students and recent graduates from any academic background who have an interest in fashion and luxury. No previous experience or knowledge of fashion is required.

Dates: From Monday 10th to Friday 21th of July 2017 (no class on 14th of July)
Hours: from 10am to 5pm
